Ronin is a fictitious Japanese esports organization based in Osaka, Japan that prides itself on a higher standard of excellence within the professional gaming industry. The art direction for Ronin seeks to define a new era of esports design, features a taste of Swiss design blended with my love of Japanese culture.

In feudal Japan, ronin (浪人) was a wandering samurai with no lord or master. I was inspired by samurai clan crests for the mark or "Kamon" which refers to a crest used in Japan to indicate one's origins. The particular crest design for Ronin represents a circle that has been split, because it has departed from the traditional samurai ways and no longer has a lord or master. The type created for the Ronin logo pays homage to letterforms found in Japanese written language.
